Finals Week

The week before our winter break is the week we students have plenty of things to do, with various deadlines throughout the week, study guides, and tests pile up. Stress is what overcomes us all because of the pressure of having to pass, to have good grades. Finals days have early release times of 12:30, which is something to look forward to, except that class periods last two hours and those two hours are most likely spent testing or doing whatever the teacher assigns as the final. A class full of complete silence is what is expected, unless the teacher decides to give us an early gift and have a kick-back period with snacks and drinks.

At the close of this week is when all the stress is lifted off our shoulders and we begin thinking of how we are going to spend our break. We think of all the good things to come, such as: celebrating the holidays with family and friends, sleeping in till we decide to wake up, and – of course – all the food that there will be to eat. After a week of hard work, a break is well-needed both for the students and teachers.

Next year, when finals come don’t think about all of the negative things like all those due dates, essays, study guides, and tests. Just think of the amazing break that will come after you get done with all that needs to be done.                                     —Gabe
