GTV has been part of our school for quite a while now and I had the chance to interview Javi, one of the staff members of GTV. This show contains both the news everyone is hearing about and popular entertainment. I had the opportunity to ask Javi a couple of questions, the first of which was how he got involved with the program. He said that he had just “signed up,” but I do know he was on the GTV staff last year, so I suspect there is more to the story than that. If you are interested in joining this class all you have to do is go to the counsling office and sign up. The usual jobs that take place during the week are getting a story, recording, and then finally editing the video. The staff is separated into groups, people can get assigned to a specific task but it is usually what you are most interested in that decides what your video or story is on. The equipment used seems simple just computers and cameras but it’s a challenge trying to learn all the tricks and secrets to editing. GTV has the opportunity to enter SEVA, which is a competition where the groups make an educational video that gets looked over by a group of judges. Being in the program would give many opportunities such as learning how to use the many types of equipment, entering the SEVA competition, and learning how to use the many types of video editing softwares. The GTV staff is made up of around 15 people, the more help the better, so if you have the creativity and desire to learn more about video editing this is a course to take. The process of signing up is very simplified as well. If grades are a concern of yours this program doesn’t require any special grades to join. If interested take the time to go to the counsling office and talk to your counsler. You can be a part of the people that bring the news to Galt High School ! — Gabe
