Throughout my life, I have always had a unique perception of life and how people gain
their “identities.” I believe that the experiences one goes through in
life don’t make someone who they are, but through these experiences a person finds
themself. A person’s reactions to the things that happen to us over the years do not
define us, but often impact the characteristics which make us who we are.
In other words, the experiences and how you react to them may determine
the kind of person you mature into or the personality that you develop. Many believe that
a lot of stereotypes can be proven wrong by this theory. Some of the strongest
people I have ever met are the people expected to be the weakest while some of the
smartest people are treated like they can’t be smart because of their background or
appearance. And, some of the nicest people are treated poorly by others for no reason at all.
We are human beings and everyone of us is judgmental, whether we show it or
not. We can be judgmental about anything - small or big, truthful or rumor - people
are always capable of saying something about another person. My opinion is
directed at why people say the things they say and how others react to it.
I believe that the things we say to others, the statements made to us, and our reactions to these words
directly relate to the type of person that we are.
The person that we become can directly relate to the experiences we have gone through
in our lives. Often specific experiences or even the smallest of circumstances
can completely impact the way a person looks at life or how they act. That is
why the smallest action can affect another person’s life dramatically. I
strongly believe that you can only meet a person one time and they can change
your life forever. However, it depends on their character and yours. It isn’t
just your personality that determines who you are, but your mind set as well; not just your
actions, but your reactions. These things aren’t necessarily determined by the experiences you go through, but they
are most certainly impacted and shaped by them.
